In the Chinese calendar, second only to the Chinese New Year Festival is the Dragon Boat Festival which iis celebrated each year to commemorate the Chinese Scholar and Statesman - Qu Yuan. These colourful races were introduced to the UK nearly 30 years ago and in June 2008, the Dragon Boat Festival comes to Harewood!
Harewood's Dragon Boat Race will see community groups, uniformed and corporate crews and Harewood staff race alongside each other to raise money for the Leeds Chinese Community Association and their own designated charities.
Throughout the at there will be fun-packed activities on site including lantern making, paper crafts, tai chi demonstrations, traditional Unicorn dances and much more.
